LITERARY SOCIETY

Founded in 1957, Literary Society is one of the oldest student societies of Khyber Medical College. . During its journey, this society was not only involved in publication of college magazine CENNA but also had the honor of organizing various declamation contests, quiz and poetry competitions, and many other functions which provided medical students with many opportunities to show their talent in extra curricular activities along with their known academic qualifications.

Presently Professor Dr.Jameel ur Rehman is the Chairman of Literary Society and under his guidance and supervision the magazine has flourished even more, setting up highest standards of literary sense and inspiration for students all over NWFP.

Mr.Ashfaq Afridi, who along with the tough and hectic schedule of final year MBBS studies, holds the office of Literary Secretary and is the Editor in Chief Cenna for the session 2007-08.

The society brings out Cenna, a trilingual magazine that represents the creative cognition in this college. The first issue appeared in 1959. Since then this magazine has been the true reflection of the intellectual and literary capabilities of the Khyberians.

The magazine comprises of three major sections, in each of the three languages spoken and understood in this part of the world. Apart from Pashto, English and Urdu sections, Medical section is there to appreciate recent advances in medical research and brings about special case histories for the students. Each section has its own Chief Editor with a dedicated team of editors to organize the respective section.

In addition, Activities, Drama and Debating section are also a part of the Literary Society and Cenna magazine and add wonderful flavor to the literary activities.

It can truly be said that the cabinet members of the Literary Society are the Ambassadors of Khyber Medical College which strive hard in excelling and making name of its alma mater amongst the sister institutions.

The various sections in the society are:

PASHTO SECTION:

Pashto section as the name signifies works for the promotion and welfare of the local language and mother tongue PASHTO. Various functions, mushaira’s and talks are held. The Pashto section had the honor of making a wonderful historic video documentary on the history of the pathans. That was very much appreciated on the  literary week.

Hope you all enjoy reading the Pashto section in the forth coming CENNA 2008.

ENGLISH SECTION:

From the dawn of time, man has always tried to convey his thoughts, either through writing, speech or visual arts. As stars are to sky, English section is the same to the CENNA. English Section, CENNA allows fellow doctors " the learned healers " to share their thoughts, feelings and let other aspire to them; to dream, to ponder over the matter worth contemplation.

Genuine, Integral, polishing the literary diamonds to sprinkle in the world of literature!

English Section not only dazzles but be dazzles. It allows the fragrant minds to spray their fragrance into the surrounding world to make it truly "HEAVEN".

MEDICAL SECTION:

Medical section is the most important an interesting section of CENNA magazine. It is the conglomerate of those serious, humorous, sarcastic and informative articles which are related to medicine in one way or other.

It was an interesting and new experience for me and this time I am trying to improve the standard of medical section to the peak. The aim of this section is to appraise medical students of new researches and invention in the filed of medicine but also to provide refreshment from their back breaking studies.

I am very thankful to Prof. Dr. Jamil-ur-Rehman Chairman Literary Society for his kind support and guidance. I am also thankful to Ashfaq Afiridi forhis moral support

In the end I hope that you would like this section and will enjoy reading it. Your suggestions for the improvement of this section are always welcomed and also you can also contact us on our website for Medical section. medical.cenna@gmail.com.
